Status Report

It's been five days since I've had a Diet Coke. Here are a few observations:
1) The time I most crave a DC is after a mtb ride.
2) It's much easier to keep my mind off of it while at work.
3) Sunday is the hardest day to not drink
4) I really don't feel any different.

I wanted to go several days without to clean out the body. I have no intention of giving it up for good. I have several road trip/bike trips planned over the next few months (Rachelle, we need to talk). I can't imagine Fall Moab or Fruita without a DC. That would be blasphemous. And my friends would probably not speak to me.
If you see me with a DC in my hand, please don't get me the stink eye. It's all good. I passed my own personal test to see if I could do without. Turns out, I can. But I really do like a DC every now and then. Maybe just not as much.

Going a week on the wagon is like holding your breath for 30 seconds and then saying, "see, I don't need to breath."

I really expected a better effort out of you.

Botched- give me a break. 5 days...5 DAYS. That is a long time and you know it. I'd prefer you just said "nice job" and went on your way. How's the leg?

Dug- I am flipping you off right now. Can you feel it?

Those are very refreshing.

I found some mexi cokes at a 7-11 in sugarhood, I also hear that Costco occasionally has them by the case.

I went three weeks during my no DC experiment. I didn't feel any different either.

I prefer diet coke to regular coke, except during a ride. I prefer Mexi Coke to both. Hands down. The mexican markets and taco trucks often have it. When Costco has it by the case, load up. Real sugar is good.

I once went off the Diet Cokes for a week. It really wasn't that big a deal. I was on a Lake Powell trip and all we had was Diet Pepsi, it was tough, buy I made it. If you put some lemons in the Diet Pepsi it's drinkable.
I have also gone cold turkey from DC and DP and drank only Diet Mt Dew, again, no problem.

Gotta die of something, might as well be something tasty and refreshing.

BTW, have you guys been watching the fireworks over in the "Cold Turkey" comments section? I'm gettin' me some popcorn and a DC and sitting back to enjoy the show. The mtbr 29er forum has NOTHING on some of the zealots hanging out here.
