More On The Night Races...

Let's do a beta on a Night Race Series.

Where should the first Night Race be? Draper or Orem? Vote now, the most votes will be the location of the first venue (we can rotate locations if we decide this is worth doing more than once).

Draper has the better trails but the "UC" has the steeps and is home to some of the fastest dirt bag riders in Utah.

Vote by posting a comment.

Dug's vote is worth 3 votes but he has to show up.

UC. I'll be at the pipe with my flash camera to both create and capture crashes.

Don't get too organized or the "Man" will hunt you down.

JZ, maybe the race will be from the man. Which means Corner Canyon. Because we don't have to drive to a trailhead that way, making fleeing a bit more likely to succeed.

12 hours of Corner Canyon anyone?

UC first to give us some redemption for poor finishes on the Helloween ride.

SBJ - most everyone has to drive to a trailhead except for you select few suncresters.

UC - my house can be the getaway/safe-haven from the long arm of the law.

JZ said...

SBJ, can I hide from the "Man" in your garage?

Rick Sunderlage said...

JZ- you didn't vote. I'll even offer to make you a custom racing plate out of my daughter's Dora The Explorer paper plate stash.

JZ said...

Okay, I vote for Corner Canyon.

What are you trying to do to me? Geez, Richard. In. UC. Post race breakfast? BTW, my word verification for this comment was conreabs. I love the conreabs.

Its a no brainer...Draper all the way. I'll be there as long as the arm has mended.

SCC: I don't think a top 3 finish counts as a "poor finish." Especially since the guy who barely beat you needed to vomit the rest of the night. Although, you were riding a cheater bike ;) However, I agree with you. The Utah County offers a great climb for a shakeout before we hit singletrack, it gets my vote.

UC - Race Course or Dry Loop

I'll supply the gum.

This will not go well.

and I'll be THAT GUY, so Jamie doesn't have to be, don't do it in CC, i'd hate to lose the Stan Crane Memorial.

I feel violated.

The trails committee knows about the Clarks TT, so they know there is always going to be some stuff like that going on. I don't think it'll be a problem as long as it's invite only and kept amongst friends. Or we could just skip the whole race thing and give Rick our money now.

Draper

Hmmm. I'm only counting the votes and not including the "not in CC" votes. And so far, I have 6 votes CC and 6 votes UC.

Both venues are close enough to a Village Inn or Denny's so the post ride breakfast is a go either way.

I'm working on a champion belt for the winner (something way better than what the UFC hands out)

may bad....it's actually 5 votes Draper, 7 votes UC

I hear the cautions about not letting this get too big, but don't see much risk here. It's just a group ride. The trails folks should be happy it's at night to avoid other trail users.

Rick - If you need money I'd just give it to you, no need for this race charade. But I applaud your integrity, you want to earn it.

I'll be in the citizen class, a good ride either place.

Draper....my car makes funny noises when it crosses county lines into the UC.

Kyle - Cheater bike or not, you still walked away with all the cash. 3rd place is only remembered by a few. Who knows maybe I will bust out the SS.

It sure would be fun to see a bunch of lights climbing up the switch backs up to the bst as you are climbing in Orem.

Miles - you need to set up your camera to get 15-20 people all smoke the pipe in a row.

Rick Sunderlage said...

KK- I'd be happy with a mid-pack finish. And I plan to be one of those guys who is giving money away. In fact, I might just hand it over to Kyle or Brandon and save them a trip.

With this many people all killing themselves for the #1 spot it's bound to get good.

Draper. It will be a good warm up for the Icup that will be the Monday after. Who should I give my 5 bucks to?

ER Dad said...

Draper: If there's no money then there's no race- right? Then it's just a fast ride. Wouldn't want to give Stupidbike an ulcer.

Rick Sunderlage said...

Looks like Draper is the venue. I hope the UC guys will make the drive up. The bigger the group, the better.

I'm thinking a traditional route would be fun. Neutral start for the first 5 min of single track until we hit the first jeep road. Regroup and start (should be plenty of room for positioning before the climb) Up Clarks, Up Jacobs, down Jacobs, down Ghost and maybe a little of the lower stuff.

More details coming soon....
