I'm losing fitness by the day. By now I'm usually in a routine of early morning spin or backcountry at least 3-4 days a week. This year, I have yet to find that routine. I feel like the wheels are coming off. I'm in a tailspin. Not good.

Does anyone know the best way to add resistance to a set of basic rollers? I've heard placing a rolled up towel under the rear roller will do the trick but it seems like a great way to catch the house on fire.

Tighten up your rim brakes. Just kidding, I have no idea. I have never used rollers.

Use a wet towel, Mr. Lotsa Watts. Asbestos?

Research if there is a resistance unit for your rollers. Also, 28 tires with 60 or 70 psi will slow you down some. But, if you have an 11 tooth in the back, you shouldn't be spinning out too often. I find rollers are great for the Z2 rides and maybe tempo stuff but a trainer helps with the harder efforts because you can throw yourself around. Guys that are fast in May are fast because of December, January and February if that helps your motivation at all.

BP may in fact disagree, but you do not need to go hard to gain fitness in January, well, lets say I don't. I don't get my fast till May, but I hold onto it for some time, BP is different, very different.

BP and Bob- good input. Thanks.

The rest of you are just messing with me. I like it.

Make it a fixie with a monster gear. Of course, you'd go through a wall if you ever came off of the rollers. Possibly make a ramp to set it on to give it the uphill feeling.
