Plan C

Plan A was to ski.  That didn't happen.  Plan B was to meet up with the soccer moms and spin at the local gym.  I decided against that.  Plan C was to bust out the rollers.

You know what makes 40 min on the rollers tolerable?  Fugazi.  That's what.

For those of you who have never tried rollers,  I captured a portion of my session on film. Notice how narrow these things are.  You can't drift too much any either direction without paying for it.

  1. i bought the e-motion rollers after seeing them on eldon's blog. then i sold them last spring to get a superfly. and then i got another set this week. they are in a word, awesome.

you have to try VERY hard to ride off the side and you can basically forget you're on rollers. i love them. makes winter training much more enjoyable. like say getting a filling vs. getting a root canal.

  2. I was surprised you weren't at the Squaw Peak ride. I guess something came up.

Those a rollers, they are a crazy. If you guys like rolling them, that's cool. But I like my old trainer so I can concentrate on hammering intervals and suffering.

I had not heard of Fugazi so I looked them up and listened to a few samples. Yeah, I think that will keep the tempo up.

  3. I think just trying to balance alone would keep my attention.

  4. andy- I watched Elden ride his last year. They are pretty amazing. He could have eaten a ham sandwich while riding.

    Enjoy your winter training.

KK- yeah, my daughter got really sick. I was staying home playing nurse.

Brandon- You need to come borrow these things. They are a trip.

  8. That's the ticket! I've been trying to figure out how to pass an hour of riding inside on my trainer or spin bike. Now I know how YOU do it. Every single amount of energy is focused on staying on your bike on those rollers. That looks crazy hard!

  9. One of the things I figured out about rollers a long time ago is that it's much easier to ride them when you are looking forward; like when you're on the road ... except since you aren't on the road, you need something on which to focus your attention.

TVs are marvelous at this, except I too often find I'd rather stare at the TV from the comfort of my couch.

  10. I was hoping the video would show you with your helmet on while on the rollers.
